Deanie
Wlodek, a certified secondary, graduate and post-graduate educator,
established Opening Minds in 2004. Deanie has created and facilitated
diversity programs since 1990, working in conjunction with Youth for
Human Rights Internations, Anytown Arizona, and the National Conference
for Community and Justice (NCCJ). She has directed numerous camps
for Anytown Arizona and for different high schools and middle schools
around the Phoenix metropolitan area.
During her tenure as a teacher in the Phoenix Union and Glendale
Union High School Districts , she was involved with strategic planning
and curriculum development at the local high school and district levels.
She has worked cooperatively with other educators to create curriculum
in most content areas at the high school level, including diversity
programs for school faculty, parents and classrooms.
With her extensive experience in education and the corporate world,
Deanie has been creating and directing programs, trainings, facilitating
professional development workshops, retreats and diversity camps.
She has created and facilitated workshops and in-services for professionals,
school staff, parents, teachers and administrators in the areas of
diversity, leadership, human rights, communication, cooperative learning
and aligning local curriculum with local, state and national standards.
MELANIE
OHM’s work has evolved from a background in business, the
social sector, university-community leadership and the performing
arts. Her ability to focus on detail with an eye to the broader context,
and her talent for collaboration in diverse environments, have placed
her as a consultant to government agencies, educational institutions,
and nonprofit organizations, working side by side with leadership
to build capacity, facilitate communication and implement change.
Melanie specializes in program design, and in facilitation using collaborative
processes. She is president of Concepts Consulting Group located in
Phoenix, Arizona, and serves as consultant and trainer for the Phoenix
Office of Arts & Culture, facilitator for the Maricopa County Sheriff’s
Office Education Section, a consultant on the roster of the Arizona
Commission of the Arts, and a certified trainer in interpersonal communication
for DialogueWorks™. Melanie’s work with young adults includes classes,
workshops, camps and facilitations of both large and small groups.
Dr. Crespo is currently working as a middle level principal in Northern Colorado. She is excited to be back working one-on-one with students. Her passion for cultural competency and its mission is life long. She has extensive experience in education and in working with corporations creating curriculum and directing programs, trainings, workshops, professional development, retreats and diversity and leadership camps.
Dr. Crespo holds a Doctoral Degree from Arizona State University in Educational Administration and Leadership with an emphasis in global studies. Margaret assists other non-profit organizations and holds board positions in other community organizations.
